Dr. Henry Gates at his Cambridge home has brought new attention to the foul practice of racial profiling. I hate that this happens to anyone; when a renowned educator like Gates is so abused, it makes headlines. Being familiar with some of his great work on race in America, I cannot imagine that he will not use this incident as a 'teaching moment' for us all.
How many robbers arrive with luggage and a chauffeured limo? On is it's face there is no excuse for the officers actions. If I were Officer Crowley, I would count myself fortunate that Dr. Gates is only demanding an apology.
