'Uncle Walter'

I never knew anyone who called the late Walter Cronkite by that nick-name; I have known people who called Stalin Uncle Joe. Imagine that!

Mr. Cronkite was the last surviving member of an elite group of news men known as 'Murrow's Boys.' Charles Collingwood, Eric Severeid, and, Richard C. Hottlet to name a few who became household names in their own right. Mr.Hottlet spent four months in Nazi jails, charged with espionage; he was freed when he was exchanged for a Nazi held in the US.

They are all gone now; and, with them the last vestiges of honest journalism; for a long time now pretty boys and 'news' babes mouth what they are allowed by their corporate masters.

Mr. Cronkite lived to see the demise of real news, which he practiced all of his life; in print, radio and TV.

If we remain vigilant, perhaps Murrow and his boys will be rediscovered. It really is up to (we) the living.

Uncle Walter died three days ago, at this posting, get ready for even more MICHAEL JACKSON!

'And, that's the way it is............
